The Russian military operation in Ukraine continues today, Monday, in A new day of escalation during the sixth month of the war which was launched on the 24th of February.
In the latest developments, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the Russian army had destroyed an arsenal containing 45,000 tons of ammunition and weapons, provided by NATO to Ukraine in Nikolaev, including the US HIMARS missile systems in eastern Ukraine.
It noted that “3 command posts were hit, including a battalion of the 66th Ukrainian Mechanized Brigade in the Ocheretino region, a battalion of the 109th Regional Defense Brigade in the Berestka region of Donetsk, as well as manpower and military equipment of the Ukrainian army in 173 districts.”
This comes as the separatists in Ukraine said that Kyiv bombed the Antonevsky Bridge in Kherson once more.
Meanwhile, Britain said, on Monday, that it is highly likely that Russia is laying anti-personnel mines on its defense lines in the Donbass region of Ukraine, without citing evidence. The British Ministry of Defense said on Twitter that Russia likely tried in Donetsk and Kramatorsk to use BFM-1 and BFM-1S anti-personnel mines, commonly called the “Butterfly mine”. The ministry said in its periodic bulletin that these are “controversial indiscriminate weapons.”
For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he will not give up any piece of Ukraine and will not conduct any possible negotiations with the Russian side.
And he added in a clip on social media: “The position of our state is still the same as before. We will not give anything from our state, and when the occupiers carry out these fake referendums, they will close before themselves any possibility of negotiations with Ukraine and the free world – which the Russian side will certainly need in a certain moment.”
Zelensky added, “Today I spoke with the President of the European Council Charles Michel, I informed him of the situation on the battlefield, and the threat created by Russia. The bombing of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plantThere is no such country in the world that can feel safe when a terrorist state shoots at a nuclear plant.”
On the other hand, the Russian Embassy in Washington confirmed that the targeting of the Ukrainian armed formations of the Zaporozhye nuclear plant threatens the nuclear security of Europe as a whole, not only Ukraine.
“We drew attention to the disinformation campaign in the Western media aimed at holding our country responsible for the situation around the nuclear power plant in Zaporozhye,” the embassy said in a statement on its Telegram channel.
She added that “it was reported arbitrarily that the Russian army carried out artillery bombardment on the territory of the nuclear power plant, when the reality is exactly the opposite.”
And she continued: “We note that this is not the first provocation by Kyiv in facilities that may result in a radiological hazard, and that the bombing of the Zaporozhye plant by the Ukrainian armed forces is deliberate and aims to discredit Russia, while the Ukrainian authorities are reckless regarding this matter.”
She noted that this “creates a threat not only to nuclear security in Ukraine, but also to the whole of Europe.”
