Showing a strong defense, a lot of intensity of play and great conversion power outside the perimeter, the CD Municipal Chillán quintet starred in a triumphant home debut in the 2024 National Basketball League 2, following winning, on Saturday night, by 76 /53, to its similar Luis Matte Larraín, in the Casa del Deporte.
Alfredo Aliste and Robert Lagos’ team took control of the game from the second quarter to deploy a dynamic based on aggressiveness to defend, quick transitions and rapid rotation of the ball, led by the team’s exclusive player, Benjamín Cabello and the talented Jordan “La Daga” Flores. They always found supportive work in the posts José Miguel Yabichella and Felipe Arias.
The outside game was key, because the triples of Diego Fuentes, Flores, Martínez and Cabello generated the key slack in the result, when the rival tried to get closer on the scoreboard.
Municipal Chillán had just played six games as an outsider, in which they had four losses and two consecutive wins. In their home debut, they achieved their third win in a row, climbing to fourth place in the standings with 10 points.
“The key is the work of the week, in the first rounds it was difficult for us to get into the game, now we have three consecutive victories and we want to continue on a streak,” commented Benjamín Cabello.
“It was a difficult game. Consistency, teamwork, the high friction we have in training to turn the games around, has been key,” said Jordan “La Daga” Flores.
“We have greatly improved our work according to what the coaches ask of us, who demand a lot of game intensity from us and the new imprint of the team is noticeable,” said Diego Fuentes.
“This is a job that we forged days ago, we want to give a change to Chilanejo basketball,” concluded the center, José Miguel Yabichella.
On the eighth date of the contest, CD Municipal Chillán will visit Boston College, on April 28, at 8 p.m.
