Diana Carnero, councilor of Naranjal (Guayas province – Ecuador), was murdered on Wednesday night. She was a member of the Citizen Revolution (RC) movement.
According to what was published by El Regional del Zulia, Carnero received several gunshot wounds while he was carrying out a work activity, supervising the state of the roads in the Ecuadorian town.
The young woman was immediately taken to the hospital, but died due to the severity of her injuries.
In this community there has been an increase in murders, robberies and crimes related to clashes between criminal gangs.
Between 2022 and 2023 alone, 88 cases of political violence occurred in Ecuador, among which the murder of presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio stands out.
After the news of the councilor’s murder became known, the former presidential candidate for the Citizen Revolution, Luisa González, sent her condolences to the family and urged the authorities to work to stop the violent events in the country.
“I just found out that today they murdered our colleague Diana Carnero, Councilor of Naranjal. A heartfelt hug to her family. While these things are happening, others dedicate themselves to criticizing from their vanity between voting NO or ABSTENING, how they have lost their way! ”, he wrote on the social network X.
