Murder of Sikh: Suspect sentenced to death in America | Indian-American Sikh police officer Sandeep Dhaliwal’s murderer sentenced to death

Houston: The American court sentenced the accused to death in the murder case of a Sikh policeman. Defendant Robert Solis (50) was sentenced for the death of Sandeep Dhaliwal (42). The relevant incident took place on September 27, 2019 in Texas. Sandeep Dhaliwal is notable for being the first person in America to be allowed to wear the traditional Sikh turban while working as a police officer. Dhaliwal’s neighbor Robert Solis opened fire during a routine traffic stop in northwest Houston.

The prosecution says that Solis, who has a criminal record, was on parole and was regarding to be caught in a traffic stop when he shot the officer. A year following Dhaliwal’s death, a section of the US highway was named following him.
