The competition heated up on Hungarian television’s “A Nagy Duett” this week, resulting in the elimination of singer Lakatos Laci and vocalist Tolvai Reni. The pair were voted off the show following Sunday’s live broadcast, according to multiple reports.
The fourth live show of “A Nagy Duett” saw seven remaining couples perform, ultimately leading to a flash vote to determine which duo would leave the competition. The decision came after a round where contestants performed both as individuals and in groups. While Lakatos and Tolvai weren’t disheartened by their departure, they described their experience as a “great journey,” Szeretlek Magyarország reported.
Earlier in the show, contestants were divided into two groups for performances. Fekete Pákó and Komonyi Zsuzsi, Gáspár Bea and Peter Srámek, and Gesztesi Panka and Kovács Áron performed Krisz Rudi’s “Homokba rajzolt szerelem,” earning maximum points from the judges. The second group – Schobert Norbi Jr. And Lengyel Johanna, Lakatos Laci and Tolvai Reni, Curtis and Barnai Judie, and Domján Evelin and Vastag Csaba – tackled a rendition of “Lehetsz király” from the musical Romeo and Juliet. While the judges enjoyed the performance, they deemed it lacking in technical skill, awarding it a score of 40 points.
The scoring led to a three-way tie for the lead between Kovács Áron and Gesztesi Panka, Lengyel Johanna and Schobert Norbi Jr., and Vastag Csaba and Domján Evelin, all achieving 80 points. Gesztesi Panka and Kovács Áron were declared the winners of the round based on a combination of judges’ scores and audience votes.
Close Call for Curtis and Judie
Before the final elimination, Curtis and his wife, Barnai Judie, were also in the danger zone, but ultimately secured enough votes to remain in the competition. Blikk reported that after the one-minute voting window closed, Lakatos László and Tolvai Reni were confirmed as the pair leaving the show.
The competition continues to be fierce, with contestants consistently delivering strong performances. The show featured a performance by Liptai Claudia and Till Attila, who performed The Weather Girls’ “It’s Raining Men” to open the show. The judging panel consisted of Kasza Tibi, Lékai-Kiss Ramóna, Horváth Tamás, and Stohl András.
Lakatos Laci and Tolvai Reni Reflect on Their Journey
Following their elimination, Lakatos Laci expressed gratitude for the experience, stating, “I felt very good, it was a big adventure. For me, it was all about having a vocal coach, a mentor, who taught me. I felt wonderful. Towards the end, when we gave it our all, I think we got our highest score.” Tolvai Reni echoed his sentiments, adding, “It was a great journey for me too, and I’m very proud of Laci because I was able to give him so much, and he gave me a lot in return. I was able to strive things that I might not have wanted to try on my own.” BorsOnline detailed their reflections.
With Lakatos and Tolvai’s departure, six couples remain in the competition. “A Nagy Duett” continues to draw a large audience, showcasing the vocal talents of Hungarian celebrities. The remaining contestants will undoubtedly be aiming to impress both the judges and the viewing public in the weeks to come.
