Nairo Quintana disqualified from the Tour de France for two positive tramadol tests

Nairo Quintana, the Colombian climber from Arkéa-Samsic, tested positive twice in the last Tour de France. Traces of tramadol, a powerful painkiller banned in racing by the UCI since 2019, were found during two checks carried out following the arrival at the Super Planche des Belles Filles (7th stage) and following that ending at the top of the pass du Granon (11 stage) where Quintana took second place.

It is important to note that taking tramadol, although prohibited in racing, does not constitute an anti-doping rule violation. The Colombian, expected on the Vuelta at the end of the week, is therefore free to run. He has ten days to appeal this decision.
