Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that the National Assembly, the lower house of Pakistan’s parliament, will be dissolved on August 9. President of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz).

Shahbaz Sharif announced the dissolution of the National Assembly during a banquet given to the party leaders.

The National Assembly is dissolved three days before the end of its term. The five-year term will end on August 12. With this, the stage will be set for the election to 342 seats in the National Assembly. Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) will win the elections.

The Prime Minister’s notification of the dissolution of the National Assembly will be forwarded to the President of Pakistan. With the President’s signature, the dissolution becomes a reality. The National Assembly shall naturally be dissolved 48 hours following the issuance of the Prime Minister’s notification unless the President signs it for any other reason.

After this, the Election Commission will issue a notification to hold general elections in the country.
