Lausanne HC is strengthening its foreign contingent by hiring former NHL player Richard Panik until the end of the season. The 31-year-old Slovak forward, who played in the AHL last season, had 88 goals and 107 assists in 521 NHL games.
Richard Panik, who went through Tampa Bay, Toronto, Chicago, Arizona, Detroit and the New York Islanders in the NHL, played last season in the AHL with the Bridgeport Islanders before being loaned to the Chicago Wolves.
“Richard is a player with a wealth of experience at the highest level. With his impressive size, he can take on the role of power forward as well as that of scorer.” said coach John Fust.
After successfully passing the medical examinations, the Slovak international (188 cm / 92 kilos) has already trained with the Lausanne residents on Wednesday morning. The commitment of Panik should replace the Austrian Michael Raffl, injured for a long period.
