National League: Zurich Lions end their negative streak – rts.ch

After six defeats in a row, the Zurich Lions have regained the taste of victory in the National League. Coach Marc Crawford’s players beat Zug 3-2 for a valuable win.

This success comes at a good time for the Lions. They managed to defeat Zugois who were playing their 4th match in 6 days. They had started the game in an ideal way with goals from Alexandre Texier (6th) and Juho Lammiko (8th). There followed a wide domination on shots (11-3) in the 1st period, yet it was the visitors who reduced the score.

Complete change in the 2nd half with wide pressure from the Zugois (15-6 on shots) for a single goal on a powerful shot from defender Tobias Geisser (28th). The Zurich people found themselves once more close to an unfavorable outcome. The good work of goalkeeper Simon Hrubec made it possible to avoid the worst. Especially since Dean Kukan took advantage of an uninspired Leonardo Genoni between his 2 posts to score the decisive goal (52nd).

In the standings, the Zurich Lions make a good deal by taking a 7-point lead on the bar of 7th place. On the other hand, Zug stagnates in 9th place, 5 points behind Fribourg-Gottéron 6th.
