National Order of Physicians of Chad Calls for Order in Health Sector: Press Briefing Highlights

Through a press briefing organized on January 13, the National Order of Physicians of Chad (ONMT) calls on the State to bring order to the health sector.

The Order recalls the need to update and apply the memoranda prohibiting the ”anarchic” and ”illegal” sale of medicines by unqualified persons. ”We want these memoranda to be transformed into laws,” says the president of the ONMT, Dr Mbainguinam Dionadji, also condemning charlatanism.

With particular regard to street medications, the ONMT urges the public authorities to “really” attack the source of the problem. ”We must make the health police functional with adequate means,” he recommends.

The ONMT says it is convinced that the health system suffers from “dichotomy” in the search for solutions.

”Despite the diagnosis made on the functioning of the health system, saying and doing are often in opposition in decision-making,” deplores the Order, saying it is committed to playing its role in this ‘fight’.
