national positivity is 2.61% based on 23,525 PCR tests

According to the daily Covid report published by the Ministry of Health this morning, in the last 24 hours a total of 760 new Covid infections were reported, which compared to last Monday’s figures means a decrease of 397 cases.

As for assets, today they were estimated at 7,773, 411 fewer infections than a week ago. In total, 12 regions decreased their new confirmed cases in seven days and 14 did so in two weeks.

In this sense, the variation of new confirmed cases at the national level is -7% and -25% for the comparison of seven and 14 days, respectively.

The positivity, for its part, was 2.61% based on 23,525 PCR tests carried out in the last 24 hours, the lowest figure in testing since October 21 and that can be explained by the Christmas date. In the Metropolitan Region, the positivity was 2%, while seven regions registered a positivity equal to or less than 2%.

According to sampling, The regions with the highest positivity in the last week are Los Ríos, Valparaíso, Los Lagos and La Araucanía, while the Arica and Parinacota Region has the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by the Los Ríos, Atacama and Los Lagos regions.

Of the total infections reported today, 417 correspond to symptomatic patients, 148 to asymptomatic patients, and 195 to PCR tests without notifying them. With this, the accumulated cases of Covid in the country amount to 1,801,033 total cases, of which 1,748,700 are recovered.

For its part, today a total of 22 deaths were reported registereds, with which the total of deaths from causes associated with Covid-19 according to daily reports is 39,056. But nevertheless, The total number of deaths from Covid today exceeds 50 thousand people who died from Covid-19, according to data from the Department of Health Statistics and Information (DEIS) of the Ministry of Health.

Of the hospitalized patients with Covid, these continue to decline, amounting today to 542 people in Intensive Care Units. Of these, 460 are on mechanical ventilation. To date there are 277 critical beds available.
