Nothing Phone 3: The Flagship Smartphone Ready to Rival iPhone 16 and Galaxy S25

British tech brand Nothing has officially announced its first true flagship smartphone, the Nothing Phone 3. Boasting vastly improved hardware and software specs compared to the existing A series and its predecessor, the Phone 2, this is the first product to be officially released in the US market.

Price and Availability

The base model of the Nothing Phone 3 comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and costs $799. The higher-end model offers 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage for $899. Pre-orders begin on July 4, with general availability starting July 15. The phone will be available in white and black and can be purchased through Nothing’s official store and Amazon.

Key Specs and Features

Key specs include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 4500 nits, a 120Hz refresh rate, a 5150mAh silicon-carbon battery with 65W wired fast charging, 15W wireless charging, and an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

The camera performance is also noteworthy. The rear is equipped with a main, ultra-wide, and periscope zoom lens, each with 50 million pixels, and supports up to 60x digital zoom. The front camera is also 50 million pixels and can shoot 4K 60 frames of video and slow-motion footage.

Software and User Experience

In terms of software, the Nothing Phone 3 runs Nothing OS 3.5 based on Android 15, with an expected update to Android 16 in the future. Nothing has promised five years of operating system updates and seven years of security patches. The new feature, Essential Space, is an AI-based function that analyzes captured screenshots to organize schedules or travel information, and can be quickly accessed via the Essential Key, a side button.

The glyph interface has evolved into the new glyph matrix, a dot-shaped mini display consisting of 489 LEDs. This display shows notification icons, a clock, battery level, recording indicator, and can run simple games. This function can be switched with the glyph button, and a development kit for external developers is in the works.

Design and Durability

The Nothing Phone 3 features a significant design change compared to its predecessors. The camera array is asymmetrically rearranged, and durability is enhanced with Gorilla Glass 7i on the front and Gorilla Glass Victus on the back. It weighs 218g and has dimensions of 160.6 x 75.59 x 8.99mm.

Competitive Intentions

With the Phone 3, Nothing has shown its intention to compete in the mainstream flagship market with the iPhone 16, Galaxy S25, and Pixel 9. “We are now ready to enter the US market with a premium product,” said Nothing CEO Carl Fei. The US will be the first country to launch, and the product will be available for purchase on Nothing’s official store and Amazon.

The Nothing Phone 3 represents a significant leap forward for the British tech brand, offering cutting-edge technology and a premium user experience. As the first Nothing product to hit the US market, it is poised to make waves in the competitive smartphone landscape. Stay tuned to archyde.com for the latest updates and in-depth reviews.
