Nawaz Sharif Acquitted in Al Aziziya Steel Mill Corruption Case: Potential Return as Prime Minister

Islamabad: Pakistan’s former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has been acquitted in yet another corruption case. Islamabad High Court released Sharif (73) in the Al Aziziya Steel Mill corruption case. With this, Muslim League party chief Nawaz Sharif is likely to become the prime minister for the fourth time. The general election is in February.

In December 2018, the anti-corruption court had sentenced Sharif (73) to seven years in prison in the case. Sharif was acquitted of the Avenfield case and Flagship scam case where he was sentenced to 10 years.
