Nawaz Sharif Acquitted in Avenfield Corruption Case: Islamabad High Court Verdict

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court acquitted former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the corruption case. A bench comprising Chief Justice Amar Farooq and Justice Miangal Hasan Aurangzeb announced the verdict while considering the appeal filed by Sharif in the Avenfield corruption case, where he was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in 2018.

The anti-corruption committee also withdrew the appeal filed by the anti-corruption committee questioning Sharif’s acquittal in another case. The trial court’s acquittal was upheld by the High Court yesterday.

With this, Nawaz Sharif got a big relief ahead of the elections. The Avenfield scandal is regarding the illegal acquisition of property in London.
