James Jones Is now joining the National Basketball Association front office. he assumes the role of executive vice president and head of basketball operations, succeeding Joe Dumars.

Jones Brings a wealth of experience to the position, having spent 14 years as an NBA player. He secured championships with both the Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

prior to this appointment, Jones dedicated seven seasons to the phoenix Suns’ front office. For most of that time, he served as their general manager.

“I’m thrilled and honored to take on the responsibility of leading the Basketball Operations department,” Jones stated. “This is an exciting prospect to pour my passion for the game into a new role and collaborate with so manny talented professionals on driving the continued success and growth of the NBA.”

Jones Will oversee crucial basketball operations matters for the NBA. These include playing rules, interpretations, player and coach conduct, discipline, and game operation policies.

He will report directly to Byron Spruell, the NBA’s president of league operations.Spruell praised Jones’s leadership and expertise.

“James Is widely respected across the NBA for being an inspiring leader and the consummate teammate,” Spruell said. “With his exceptional relationship-building skills and deep basketball expertise, he is well suited to guide our efforts to shape the current and future direction of the NBA game.”

Dumars Served with the NBA from 2022 until earlier this year.He departed to become the head of basketball operations for the New Orleans Pelicans.
