Netanyahu holds emergency meeting at Defense Ministry headquarters in Tel Aviv

This comes after the Israeli authorities decided to raise their level of alert at the military level and announced special instructions and restrictions on the home front in anticipation of a response from the Lebanese factions after the attacks launched by the Israeli army last week on Lebanon, which resulted in the killing and wounding of dozens, including leaders in the “Radwan” unit, the elite of the Lebanese factions.

The Israeli Home Front Command indicated that special instructions apply to Haifa and all towns in the north, up to the border with Lebanon, regarding education and work near shelters and reducing gatherings in closed spaces to 300 people and in open spaces to 30 people.

The exchange of shelling between the Lebanese factions and Israel was renewed on Saturday, towards towns and areas, including military ones, on both sides, while Israel is preparing for a possible escalation and a response from the Lebanese party to the assassinations it carried out on Friday.

Until Saturday morning, the Lebanese factions mourned 16 of his members, including the leader responsible for operations in the party, Ibrahim Aqil, and the other military leader, Ahmed Mahmoud Wahbi, who led the military operations of the “Radwan” force, initially on the support front on October 8, 2023, and until the beginning of the year 2024.

The Israeli army announced the “assassination of Aqil and a number of leaders of the ‘Radwan’ unit during their underground meeting,” before the Lebanese factions officially confirmed his assassination at midnight on Friday-Saturday.
