Neuhaus: 50,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines will arrive in December

Carlos Neuhaus, a member of the Vaccine Command, said that in December a total of 50,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19 and added that these will have their own refrigeration system.

He indicated that at least 15 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine candidates are assured. He indicated that the agreements have been signed with Pfizer and Covax Facility.

“We have 9.9 million vaccines from Pfizer and the one from Covax Facility, which may be approximately 6 million vaccines. So, we don’t have much. Today there were some statements from Dr. Castillo that we are about to close with another vaccine, but due to confidentiality we cannot say it, “he told RPP.

“The problem with Covax Facility is that it would come in the middle of the year (2021), Pfizer would come approximately 1 million in the first quarter, which would be arriving 1.5 million and 50 thousand doses now in December and these come with its cold system”, assured the member of the Vaccine Command.

On the other hand, he pointed out that the acquisition of vaccines is not the only step to immunize the millions of Peruvians, but that it must also collaborate with the logistics to maintain them.

Neuhaus said the country is still in talks with other laboratories and pharmaceutical companies to acquire doses from other candidates.

“I have here a list of, for example, with whom there has been contact: AstraZeneca, Sinovac, Pfizer, Moderna, Novavac, Covaxx, Sinopharm, Johnson & Johnson, etc. With all these there have been conversations. I think it is a time to make up for lost time. (…) They are even the Russian vaccine, there have also already been meetings ”, he mentioned Carlos Neuhaus.
