As with all Corona variants, it was only a matter of time before the new sub-line of the Omicron variant arrived in Austria with the BA.2.75. Now the time has come, as a spokeswoman for the state of Salzburg confirmed on Saturday morning. The ongoing monitoring of Salzburg’s wastewater gave the first indications of this regarding a week ago. Two cases have been identified. However, the number of unreported cases is likely to be higher: it is assumed that there are already several infections with the new subvariant, which was first observed mainly in India.
