Viane Leisure Center Exceeds Expectations in Inaugural Weeks, Town Hall fielding inquiries
VIANE – Teh new intercommunal leisure center in Viane, launched on July 7th, is experiencing a resounding success, with director muriel Boyer describing the situation as “the victim of our success.” The facility, designed to occupy children aged 3 to 12 during school holidays, has quickly become a sought-after service by parents in the Haut Languedoc region.
The initiative stemmed from a direct request from the community, evidenced by a survey conducted among parents of students at the Viane school. This proactive approach by the community of communes of Haut Languedoc has paid off, with the center consistently welcoming between 15 and 20 children each week.Currently, the center is operational throughout July and the initial weeks of other school breaks, excluding Christmas. boyer, alongside Géraldine Thomas and Sophie cayuela, can accommodate up to 20 children. While priority is given to children residing in Viane, the center opens its doors to those from neighboring municipalities when space permits. Parents interested in registration are advised to contact the town hall for details.
Each week at the center is structured around a theme. The daily schedule begins with children’s arrival between 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m., followed by an initial activity. The midday period, from noon to 2 p.m., includes lunch and recreation. The afternoon is dedicated to naptime for younger children and a second activity for older participants.
While the initial weeks served as a testing ground, the team is already looking ahead. “We try to involve the actors and associations of the village,” Boyer stated, highlighting a recent pizza-making session with Marie Sarazin of Coop’Pizza Occitan. This collaborative approach aims to enrich the children’s experience by connecting them with local businesses and community members.
Looking forward, the center plans to expand its outing schedule, a move that will be facilitated by the current high demand. The success of the Viane leisure center has already sparked discussions about future expansion. Boyer noted that if the current enrollment numbers continue, the possibility of dedicated, purpose-built premises, similar to those in Murat, could be explored. such an expansion would allow for a greater capacity, further extending the center’s reach and impact on the community. The enthusiastic reception from the children themselves underscores the positive impact of this new service, suggesting a bright future for extracurricular activities in Viane.
