New York stocks rose as the Federal Reserve Chairman’s remarks the day before and interest rates on Treasuries rose.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 34,807.46, up 254.47 points from the previous day.

The Standard & Poor’s (S&P) 500 Index closed at 4,511.61, up 50.43 points from the battlefield, and the Nasdaq Index, centered on technology stocks, closed at 14,108.82, up 270.36 points from the battlefield.
