A newly married Boston-area woman died following a shark attack during her honeymoon in the Bahamas.

The victim was bitten while paddleboarding regarding a kilometer from the beach, according to the Daily Mail.

A rescuer who saw the scene boarded a boat to try to save the victim.

Unfortunately, the woman had suffered significant injuries to her right side and attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful.

For the moment, we do not know the breed of the animal that bit the victim, but several bull sharks and tiger sharks swim in the waters near the Bahamas. These are two species considered dangerous.

On average, six people die each year from a shark attack.
