News 24 | A scientific study warns against eating white bread and rice on heart health

Recent scientific studies have warned of some eating habits that may have many risks to human health.

The study, the results of which will be presented extensively at the 13th Annual Conference on Cardiovascular Diseases, showed that eating refined grains such as bread and white rice is linked to the risk of coronary artery disease, pointing out that eating these grains is similar to the risks of relying on a diet rich in sugars and oils.

In contrast, she noted, eating whole grains, such as whole-grain bread, whole oats or quinoa, was linked to a lower risk of early coronary artery disease.

And she showed that grains lose important nutrients when they are ground into flour, in order to extend their shelf life.

The study stated that smoking, high cholesterol, blood pressure and diabetes are factors for early coronary artery disease, which often begins without symptoms, but can lead to chest pain or a heart attack.

For its part, the American Heart Association recommended a diet focused on eating vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains and fish to reduce the risk of heart disease.
