News 24 | Health: 169 convictions in death cases as a result of medical errors

Sharia health authorities issued decisions in 517 death cases resulting from medical errors during 2021, including 169 cases in which conviction decisions were issued, compared to 348 cases in which decisions of non-conviction were issued.

Makkah Al-Mukarramah region topped the list of decisions with 98 decisions (37 convictions, 61 non-convictions), and the Eastern region came second with 75 decisions (27 convictions, 48 ​​non-convictions), followed by the Riyadh region with 61 decisions (21 convictions, 40 non-convictions).

The Asir region recorded 49 decisions (9 convictions, 40 non-convictions), then Qassim 41 decisions (13 convictions, 28 non-convictions), Medina 38 decisions (5 convictions, 33 non-convictions), and Al-Baha came as the least region in the number of medical malpractice cases by 15 cases (2 convictions, 13 not convictions).
