King Saud Medical City clarified the importance of potassium to the human body, its natural sources, and the effects of eating excessive amounts of it.

And the city indicated that the benefits of potassium include helping to control the fluid balance in the body, and helping the heart muscle to function properly.

She pointed out that its natural sources are bananas, beans, legumes, potatoes, nuts and seeds, fish, turkey, chicken, red meat, and some vegetables such as broccoli and carrots.

She pointed out that the increase in the intake of food containing potassium leads to stomach pain, nausea and diarrhea.
