With Amazon Prime set to be the exclusive home of Thursday Night Football starting in 2023, the NFL is looking to adopt a new holiday tradition.

The league plans to play a game on Black Friday which is known as one of the biggest shopping days of the year, sources told the Sports Business Journal.

The NFL might wait until 2024 to introduce the holiday game, but most signs point to next season. The new holiday game will then become an annual part of the Regular Season calendar.

Talks regarding a game on Black Friday picked up steam following Amazon acquired the broadcast rights to Thursday Night Football last year. According to NBC Sports, the team owners have also agreed that the league can schedule two more teams for a second midweek game.

The one game will cost between $70 million and $100 million, on top of the $1 billion Amazon pays annually to broadcast TNF.

The NFL increased the number of Thanksgiving games to three just a few years ago, following previously playing double-headers with the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys.
