NFL: the Canadian quarterback of the Jacksonville Jaguars had to have foot surgery

Recently signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Canadian quarterback Nathan Rourke was scheduled to undergo surgery on Monday to remove the plate and screws from his foot, reports TSN reporter Farhan Lalji.

Last season, while a member of the BC Lions of the CFL, Rourke had surgery on his right foot in August following sustaining a Lisfranc sprain in a game once morest the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The Canadiens returned to play for the playoffs, beating the Calgary Stampeders in the first round before losing to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Western Final.

After earning tryouts with a dozen NFL teams, the 24-year-old signed a three-year contract with the Jaguars on January 16. He is expected to fight for the role of backup to Trevor Lawrence.

Lalji says the Jags will take care of his rehabilitation and that he will move to Jacksonville next month.
