NH Nonprofit Delivers 50K lbs of Aid to Ukraine Despite Ongoing War

New Hampshire Volunteers Continue Aid Deliveries to Ukraine Despite Shifting Global Focus

Eastern Ukraine – As the world’s attention increasingly turns to the conflict in the Middle East, a New Hampshire-based nonprofit, Common Man For Ukraine, is reaffirming its commitment to providing critical humanitarian aid to Ukrainians impacted by the ongoing war with Russia. The organization recently completed its 15th mission to the region, delivering much-needed supplies to communities near the front lines.

New Hampshire Volunteers Continue Aid Deliveries to Ukraine Despite Shifting Global Focus

Since 2022, Common Man For Ukraine has delivered approximately four million pounds of food and essential supplies to families displaced and affected by the war, according to the organization. The continued efforts highlight the enduring need for support even as other global crises demand attention. The organization’s operate focuses on providing direct assistance to those most vulnerable, including children and families struggling to survive in war-torn areas.

Delivering Aid Amidst Increased Danger

Earlier this month, volunteers transported 50,000 pounds of food, clothing, and toys – including shoeboxes and backpacks filled with gifts – to eight villages located close to the active fighting. Susan Mathison, the founding member of Common Man For Ukraine, described the increasingly perilous conditions on the ground while speaking from Eastern Ukraine. “There are air-raid sirens and anti-drone shooting every night,” she explained. “We can’t let fear get in the way – these kids are waiting, these people are waiting, they are innocent victims of a war they don’t deserve.”

Volunteers are navigating a landscape increasingly protected by low-tech defenses, such as nylon nets draped over roads and cities, designed to mitigate the threat of Russian drone strikes. Mathison emphasized the heightened risk, but reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to its mission. “We had a truck full of sweaters, a truck full of clothes, and two trucks full of food, so we were able to grant them a month’s worth of food,” she recalled.

Global Conflicts and Aid Supply Chains

The ongoing conflict in Iran is creating ripple effects that extend to Ukraine, potentially impacting the flow of aid. According to reports, the increased demand for anti-drone and missile interceptors in the Middle East is diverting U.S. Supplies that European allies rely on to support Ukraine’s defense. Russia continues to target Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis and driving up oil prices.

Despite the shifting geopolitical landscape, Mathison stressed the importance of maintaining focus on all ongoing humanitarian crises. “There are catastrophes all over the world, and one shouldn’t divert from another,” she warned. The organization is not only providing immediate relief but also supporting long-term recovery efforts.

Supporting Trauma Recovery and Widows

Common Man For Ukraine’s impact extends beyond immediate food and supply deliveries. The team recently visited a trauma counseling camp in Poland that provides support to approximately 35 children each month who have lost their fathers in the war. Donations have also enabled the creation of a new monthly retreat for widows of Ukrainian soldiers killed in action.

Looking Ahead

As the war in Ukraine continues with no immediate ceasefire in sight, the need for humanitarian assistance remains critical. Common Man For Ukraine plans to continue its missions, adapting to the evolving challenges and ensuring aid reaches those who need it most. The organization’s ongoing work serves as a reminder that even amidst global crises, the plight of those affected by conflict in Ukraine demands continued attention and support.
