The Nissan Daring Africa 2024 expedition teams were warmly welcomed on arrival in Zimbabwe by Lucas Taruvinga, a member of the Zimbabwe Nissan Dealer Council. The expedition, which consists of four Nissan Navaras and a Nissan X-Trail support vehicle, is progressing well on its African journey through the eight countries on the route.

– Nissan’s operations in Zimbabwe are unique in Africa. We have four accredited Nissan agents in the country: Clover Leaf, Croco, AMTEC and AMC, which gives us a unique opportunity to dominate the market. Our representatives are happy that our country is part of ‘Daring Africa 2024’”, explained Taruvinga.

The expedition left South Africa on Tuesday 26 March 2024. Mozambique was the second stop where the teams met with some local media and key fleet customers of Nissan Mozambique, to first explore the road coastal areas of the country to test the vehicle’s capabilities, before discussing with executives regarding the brand and its strategy in Africa.

Welcoming the convoy at the showroom in Maputa (the capital of Mozambique), Nissan Mozambique CEO Ivan Busi said he was very enthusiastic regarding this initiative: “Nissan is an extremely popular brand in Mozambique and the Navara is an important model for us because of its versatility, robustness and comfort. Daring Africa is also an opportunity to showcase Nissan Mozambique, not only do we sell the full range of Nissan vehicles including the Navara, but we also support every purchase through our extensive dealer network in Maputo, Nampula, Beira, Moatize and Pemba, each of which has recently undergone renovations to meet global standards.”

Nissan has been present in Zimbabwe for almost 60 years and this expedition celebrates this historic anniversary: ”Our first showroom opened in 1967 and it is a privilege to welcome this expedition to our country. The Navara is a new chapter in this story , and I think this experience will prove…

what we already knew regarding the qualities of this vehicle,” predicted Taruvinga.

The expedition arrived in Mutare, a town in eastern Zimbabwe, where some local media and Nissan employees enjoyed a unique experience with a trip to Mutarazi Falls, before heading to Harare, the capital.

On her part, Nissan Africa Regional General Manager responsible for Nissan operations in Zimbabwe, Linda Mazimhaka, highlighted the importance of Zimbabwe to Nissan Africa: “The Navara is an exceptional model in the Nissan LCV family. We want to demonstrate, through this expedition, the robustness of the vehicle. It proved perfectly suited to the task, tackling long, grueling drives in Mozambique, before heading to Zimbabwe and discovering the picturesque landscape of the Eastern Highlands,” she said.

This shipment is proof of Nissan’s continued commitment to the continent, says Managing Director of Nissan South Africa and African Independent Markets Independent Markets Africa, Maciej Klenkiewicz. “Being the only car manufacturer with wholly-owned production facilities in Egypt and South Africa, as well as an extensive dealer network across the continent, is testament to this commitment, and we are proud to recognize and celebrate our dealers and partners along the way. Later this year, We are exporting the Navara to Egypt, where the Nissan Daring Africa expedition is scheduled to end following starting its journey in South Africa, Maciej added.

Daring Africa 2024 has left Rosslyn on an eight-country odyssey that will end in Cairo. From Mozambique, the expedition went towards Zimbabwe, to Kariba, the country’s border with Zambia, towards Malawi, then Tanzania, Kenya and Egypt, the next stages of this expedition.

Note that Nissan Africa has conquered new markets for the 2023 Navara, particularly in Algeria and Libya. The introduction of the vehicle is planned in Egypt in 2024.
