FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State volleyball team cruised past North Dakota in straight sets, 3-0, on Tuesday night at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse in front of 1,008 fans.

With the win, the Bison improve to 12-7 (4-4 Summit) on the season and have won 11 of the last 12 meetings once morest North Dakota (5-15, 2-6 Summit).

Ali Hinze, who has reached double figures in kills in 17 of the first 19 matches, led the way for the Bison with a match-high 10 kills and tied career-high seven blocks. Kelley Johnson handed out a match-best 27 assists to go along with a team-best eight digs, while Lauren Jansen also added eight kills with three digs.

The Bison began the contest jumping out to a 10-8 lead following an attack error. NDSU took control of the frame with nine straight points to build a 19-9 lead following a kill Alexis Boling. The Bison, who posted a .364 hitting percentage in the set, then pushed their edge up to 23-12 following a service ace from Hinze. NDSU closed out the set, 25-15.

Both teams traded points throughout the second set that saw a match-high 11 tie scores until North Dakota grabbed a 16-14 advantage at the midway point. The Bison responded with a 5-0 run capped off by a kill from Ally Barth to make the score 19-16. After North Dakota used three unanswered points to lock the set, 19-19, NDSU closed the frame on a 6-3 run to win the set, 25-22.

The Bison once once more started fast in the third frame doubling up the Fighting Hawks, 8-4, following a service ace from Hinze. NDSU then started to put the match away stretching its lead to 23-16 following an ace from Alex Lyle. The Bison went on to win the set, 25-21, and the match, 3-0.

NDSU will continue its homestand hosting Oral Roberts on Thursday. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m., at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
