TAIPEI/BEIJING – China appears set to hold more military exercises near Taiwan during a NATO summit in the United States. Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense announced that as of early morning local time, 66 military aircraft had flown around the island in the past 24 hours, setting a record this year. Fifty-six of the planes flew across the unofficial center line between China and the Taiwan Strait (Taiwan Strait).
