NXT Vengeance Day Review: Disappointing & Inconsistent

The hype surrounding NXT Vengeance Day 2026 ultimately failed to deliver, leaving many viewers feeling as though they’d tuned into a standard weekly episode of NXT rather than a premium live event. While the show began with a promising energy, it quickly devolved into a series of matches that lacked the spark and excitement expected of a PLE. The event, held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, marked the sixth annual Vengeance Day for the NXT brand and the 14th Vengeance event overall [1].

Ironically, the build-up to Vengeance Day generated considerable anticipation, with storylines and rivalries seemingly poised to explode on the big stage. However, the execution fell short, and the event struggled to maintain momentum after a strong opening. This inconsistency has become a recurring theme for NXT since the recent roster adjustments, making it difficult to predict whether a PLE will live up to its potential.

Joe Hendry retained the NXT Championship in the main event, defeating Ricky Saints. However, the match began with a bizarre spot involving Hendry getting his foot trapped in the ropes, allowing Saints to attack [2]. Blake Monroe kicked off the night with a victory over Jaida Parker in a Street Fight, a brutal encounter that set a high bar for physicality early on.

The event also featured Tony D’Angelo defeating Dion Lennox in a hard-hitting match, and Tatum Paxley winning the NXT Women’s North American Championship by defeating Izzi Dame [1]. However, these matches, while competently performed, failed to elevate the overall show and left viewers wanting more.

One notable aspect of Vengeance Day 2026 was its significance as the final NXT event to stream on Peacock in the United States, due to the expiration of WWE’s contract on March 15th [1]. The latest platform for US subscribers remains unconfirmed. It was the last event to stream on the WWE Network globally, as the service will permanently shut down on April 1st in the remaining four countries that still utilize it, transitioning those subscribers to Netflix [1].

The Street Fight between Blake Monroe and Jaida Parker was a chaotic affair, featuring the use of steel chairs and kendo sticks. Monroe ultimately secured the win with a Glamour Shot DDT after throwing diamonds in Parker’s face [2]. Meanwhile, Tony D’Angelo’s victory over Dion Lennox involved a brawl that spilled out of the ring and into the parking lot, with interference from OTM (Bronco Nima and Lucien Price) [2].

Looking ahead, the focus now shifts to NXT Stand & Deliver, the next major event on the NXT calendar [1]. WWE will be hoping to build more compelling storylines and deliver a more satisfying PLE experience for fans. The transition to new streaming platforms in the US and the complete shutdown of the WWE Network also present logistical challenges that the company will need to navigate effectively.
