Obstruction of the right to information: The FNDC condemns “the drift” of the junta

2023-12-01 09:09:25

In a press release published this Thursday, November 30, 2023, the FNDC, in turn, denounced the internet shutdown, the blocking of social networks and the jamming of the airwaves of Fim Fm, Djoma Fm and Espace Fm.

The platform that fought Alpha Condé’s third term calls for unity of action to curb “the obstinacy of the junta in power to deprive Guinean citizens of their right to information.”

“The Fndc vigorously condemns this drift which hinders the fundamental freedoms of media companies and citizens’ right to information”, and calls on socio-professional media organizations, consumer unions, human rights associations and unions of the country’s telecommunications companies “to unite in action to confront this umpteenth violation of fundamental rights in our country.”

Since Friday November 24, 2024, the internet and social networks have been restricted while the airwaves of several media have also been jammed.
