Bhubaneswar: Odisha FC started the 2023-2024 season with a win in the Indian Super League. In the first match, Odisha defeated two-time champions Chennaiyin FC. Odisha won by two unopposed goals.
Dominating throughout the match, Odisha won authentically. Gerry Maviminthanga and superstar Diego Mauricio scored for Odisha. Jerry scored in the 45th minute and Mauricio scored in the 63rd minute.
With this win, Odisha is currently at the top of the points table. Odisha topped Kerala Blasters. Although both the teams have three points each, Odisha is ahead on the strength of goal difference. Last season, Odisha finished sixth and Chennaiyin eighth in the tournament. Later Odisha won the Hero Super Cup.
