Los Angeles: Armed off-duty Los Angeles County deputy shot dead by police on golf course. The incident took place at the Fontana Golf Course. The victim was identified Wednesday as an off-duty Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy.
The incident started around 4 pm. Authorities received a 911 call from a woman at a home in the area of Sierra Lakes Golf Club. The woman called the Fontana Police Department to report that her husband was inside their home shooting a gun.
He is also said to have been drinking before the shooting. The caller then reported that the man left the house and went to the golf course with a gun. The authorities said that he carried out the attack with two guns.
Suspected shooter Alejandro Diaz, 45, ran into the Sierra Lakes Golf Club before officers arrived with two guns, police said. ‘There he started shooting. Shots were fired at the police. It was bad,’ said witness Mysha Dove.
Officers confronted the man near the Sierra Lakes Club following reports of an armed man, who was shot. The encounter occurred following several verbal warnings, Fontana police said in a statement.
