The pop landscape is buzzing with activity as several major artists have recently offered glimpses into their creative processes, signaling potential new albums on the horizon. In recent weeks, artists including Olivia Rodrigo, Clairo, Dua Lipa, and Gracie Abrams have all shared studio updates, fueling anticipation among fans. While new music from Rodrigo and Abrams has been anticipated for some time, the collective studio activity suggests a significant wave of releases could be coming soon.
Clairo kicked off the recent flurry of activity with an Instagram post featuring photos that appear to be from recording sessions. The images included a grainy shot of musicians jamming, a close-up of masking tape labeled “Clairo 4,” and the singer writing with a Roland keyboard nearby. This suggests the artist is preparing to release her fourth studio album, following 2021’s critically acclaimed Charm. Speaking with Rolling Stone in 2021, Clairo reflected on the learning process inherent in creating music, stating, “It takes so many records to really understand someone’s choices.”
Dua Lipa has also been teasing new music, sharing a series of photos on Tuesday that included snapshots of herself playing guitar and inside a recording studio. This marks the third time this year Lipa has hinted at her fourth studio album. She previously shared studio photos in February and told Rolling Stone in 2025 that “Love is influencing the sonics” of her upcoming perform, describing the music as “very fun” and noting she’s “still in discovery mode.”
Olivia Rodrigo Nears Completion of Third Album
Olivia Rodrigo has been steadily building anticipation for her third album, confirming studio work as early as last October and continuing to share updates on social media. Producer Dan Nigro further fueled speculation on February 24th with an Instagram post featuring himself and Rodrigo captioned, “Finishing records.” Rodrigo herself commented on the photo, noting “the palpable stress” in the image, which showed Nigro looking contemplative and Rodrigo with a concerned expression. This suggests the album is nearing completion.
Gracie Abrams Advances on Third Project
Gracie Abrams, following the release of her 2024 album The Secret of Us, has also been actively working on new material. After initially stating in a conversation with Cyndi Lauper for Rolling Stone’s Musician on Musicians series last fall that her “next album isn’t made” and she didn’t yet know what she wanted to say, Abrams now appears to have found her direction. She recently shared photos from Long Pond Studios, known for its work with Taylor Swift on albums like folklore and evermore. In January 2026, Abrams expressed her excitement, stating, “I’m beyond ready for it to belong to everyone else. I’ve never felt this way about anything I’ve made before, so it’s definitely driving me crazy in a quality way.”
Adding to the excitement, producer Jim-E Stack briefly shared, and then deleted, a photo of Lorde in the studio on March 10th, sparking speculation about potential new music from the artist, who released Virgin in 2023. Lorde previously stated her intention to shorten the gap between albums, telling the Los Angeles Times, “It’s not allowed to be four years… It has to be sooner.”
With so many artists actively engaged in the recording process, the coming months promise a vibrant and exciting new chapter for pop music. Fans eagerly await further updates and the eventual release of these highly anticipated projects.
