Arriving 9 days before his race in Paris, Florine Gaspard took part in the 8th of 10 heats of the 50m freestyle. The race was tough, as several favourites were lined up alongside the Bastognarde.
Despite the level and a 7th place at the finish, Florine Gaspard managed a time of 24 seconds 69, or 4/100ths less than her Belgian record.
A big surprise!
This time, the 14th of those entered, allows him to take part in the semi-finals. “A big surprise, she confesses to the RTBF microphone. I’m really happy, I swam very fast in the morning. Now I just have to enjoy it, I have nothing to lose.”
The one who lives and trains in Marseille does not hide it: in the back of her mind, there is the Belgian record and the Olympic final.

To follow Florine’s race, her supporters gathered at the Bastogne swimming pool. They will meet there this evening at 8 p.m. to make their voices heard during the Bastognarde semi-final scheduled for 8:39 p.m.
