Muscat: Oman has imposed new conditions for companies trading in precious metals such as gold, silver, gemstones, etc. in the country. The new conditions have been imposed by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.

The requirement is that all establishments buying and selling precious metals, gemstones etc. in the country must accept one of the modes of electronic payment, checks or bank transfer for commercial transactions above 5000 Riyals.
Officials added that this requirement came into effect in Oman from August 14, 2023.
