On the beach in Alicante: Austrian died trying to save his wife

A native of Austria died on Saturday on the beach of Moncayo in Alicante, Spain, while trying to save his wife. This was reported by the internet portal antena3. The Foreign Ministry confirmed the death of the Austrian on Monday followingnoon.

As the Free daily newspaper “Today“reported, the woman was carried off by a current. Rescue workers therefore warned the man (43) not to swim following him due to the dangerous situation. During the rescue attempt, the man himself got under water and is likely to have drowned as a result.

Just last Thursday, an Austrian on vacation in Portugal suffered a medical emergency in the water. Surfers got the Styrian out of the water, but attempts to revive him came too late. A second man has since gone missing.
