One dead and four injured after shooting in the south of the United States, the suspect apprehended

“Deion Patterson has been apprehended,” Atlanta police said in a short statement on his Facebook page that evening.

Police had earlier released footage of the alleged shooter, asking “anyone with information” to contact them.

The victims are between 25 and 71 years old, police said during a press conference in the early evening. All of the victims were women, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said.

Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said multiple federal agencies have joined in the pursuit of the suspect.

Deion Patterson was accompanied by his mother, who was not injured, said the police chief, noting that it is too early to know if one or more victims were specifically targeted. His family is cooperating with the investigation.
