49 pedestrians were killed in traffic accidents in Austria last year, which was the same number as in 2022. The largest group of victims were senior citizens. An analysis by the Austrian Transport Club (VCÖ) shows that every third fatality was older than 80 years old, and every second fatality was older than 65 years old. Three quarters of fatal pedestrian accidents occurred in the local area.
