In the Steyr Valley, where countless hammers banged more than 100 years ago to produce knives and cutlery for the whole of Austria and far beyond, this sound has almost completely fallen into oblivion. Only occasionally can a regular blunt beating be heard from a small workshop in Molln. A background noise that is still familiar to locals, but mostly seems strange to guests and tourists. Thomas Schwarz cultivates old handicraft tradition.
