Oppo France Distributor Yang Technology Faces Compulsory Liquidation Amid Patent Infringement Lawsuit: What Does This Mean for Oppo’s Future in the French Market?

A separate entity from Oppo, Yang Technology was until now the company behind Oppo France. It was she who was responsible for distributing the brand’s smartphones and other devices on French territory, on behalf of Oppo Monde… but without being a subsidiary of the Chinese giant, strictly speaking.

However, it is in the context of a lawsuit between Oppo and Nokia, on a patent infringement case, that the fate of Yang Technology seems to have been sealed. Today, and as reported Frandroid, the company is moving towards compulsory liquidation. A surprising end to the course as Oppo won its trial this week, at first instance, once morest Nokia before the Paris Court of Justice.

This case has often been referred to as an explanation for Oppo’s potential withdrawal from the French market, but given the favorable verdict granted to it by the French courts, it is not known why the firm decided to kill its distribution chain. Maybe she acted too soon, or maybe she is planning a conviction on appeal.

In Germany, on the same patent infringement case, Nokia has indeed won its case once morest Oppo. It is therefore very likely that the Scandinavian company will not stop there… and that Oppo will be worried followingwards.
