2023-07-13 16:18:21

An episode of whooping cough has been ongoing since Thursday July 6 at the Avignon hospital. According to the Regional Health Agency, around sixty cases of this infectious respiratory disease have been identified, the majority of which are adults. Nearly a third of those affected contracted the disease outside the hospital center, specifies the ARS. These are people who live in the departments of Vaucluse, Bouches du Rhône and Gard.

The Regional Health Agency also indicates that the situation at Avignon hospital is “under control” thanks to the implementation of reinforced barrier measures as well as reinforced monitoring of new cases. “If you have a dry and persistent cough for more than two weeks, you should consult a doctor,” adds the ARS.
