Overloaded network, weather, sick leave: Many regional trains in the region are canceled until the New Year

by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

Train passengers in Berlin and Brandenburg will probably have to prepare for failures in regional transport by the end of the year. The reasons for this include the weather and the high level of sick leave. As a result, many trains stop.

Train passengers in Berlin and Brandenburg still have to be prepared for the fact that many regional trains will be canceled until the New Year.

The Ostdeutsche Eisenbahngesellschaft (Odeg) announced that there would be restrictions from Monday to January 1st. Reasons are therefore an overloaded light rail network, construction work, consequences of the weather – such as frozen switches – and a high level of sick leave. The company reported canceled regional trains and delays at the weekend.

Deutsche Bahn also announced on its website that it would not be able to maintain the range of services in the region at the usual level until January.
