ÖVP finances: Court of Auditors wants to check aid for senior citizens’ association

Court of Auditors President Margit Kraker wants to take a closer look at the allocation of Corona aid to the ÖVP Senior Citizens’ Association. The Court of Auditors can of course examine public subsidies, said Kraker on Saturday S1-“Journal zu Gast”: “And that will also interest us.” The Court of Auditors published the ÖVP balance sheet for the 2019 election year on Friday and reported a number of violations of the party law.

Among other things, the Independent Party Transparency Senate (UPTS) in the Chancellery and subsequently the Federal Administrative Court should clarify the question of whether the turquoise-black seniors’ organization is actually (as claimed by the ÖVP) associations independent of the party or rather a part the ÖVP. The Court of Auditors is of the opinion that these are attributable to the ÖVP. “What happens to the funding also depends on this question,” says Kraker.

The funds from the “Non-Profit Organizations Support Fund” are actually intended for non-profit organizations. Parties and their sub-organizations are actually excluded from this pot.
