Pakistan Day 2024: Army Resolve, Unity & Nationwide Observances

Islamabad – Pakistan’s military leadership has conveyed heartfelt greetings to the nation on the 86th anniversary of Pakistan Day, reaffirming an unwavering commitment to the country’s security and democratic institutions. The message, delivered by the chiefs of the Army, Navy and Air Force, underscores the armed forces’ dedication to safeguarding Pakistan’s frontiers and eradicating terrorism and extremism.

Marking a pivotal moment in the nation’s history, Pakistan Day commemorates the Lahore Resolution of March 23, 1940, which crystallized the vision for an independent homeland. The military’s statement emphasized that the day embodies Pakistan’s resilience and faith-driven resolve. This year’s observance comes as Pakistan continues to navigate complex security challenges, prompting a renewed pledge from the armed forces to work alongside law enforcement agencies and the public to ensure national safety.

Military Leadership Extends Congratulations

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, all extended their greetings on behalf of the Pakistan Armed Forces, according to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The ISPR highlighted the significance of March 23, 1940, as a defining moment in the country’s history.

“Rooted in faith, guided by hope, and strengthened by resilience, this day underscores the unwavering determination of the Pakistani people,” the ISPR statement read. The military leadership noted that Pakistan continues to produce progress under democratic principles while upholding Islamic values, with a focus on strengthening institutions and ensuring citizen well-being.

Addressing Security Challenges

The armed forces’ commitment to national security was a central theme of the Pakistan Day message. Acknowledging the ongoing threats of terrorism and extremism, the ISPR stated that the military remains “united and unwavering” in its resolve to eradicate these dangers. This commitment extends to defending Pakistan’s borders and maintaining internal security against all forms of aggression.

“At a time when our nation confronts these threats, we are resolute in safeguarding Pakistan’s security,” the ISPR stated. The military leadership emphasized the importance of collaboration with the public and law enforcement agencies in achieving this goal. The statement also highlighted Pakistan’s role as a responsible member of the global community, advocating for peace, stability, and cooperation worldwide.

Pakistan Day was observed nationwide with simplicity and austerity, reflecting the current economic climate. The day featured flag-raising ceremonies and special prayers for the country’s prosperity and security. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also issued messages calling for national unity and solidarity on the occasion, Dawn reported.

The ISPR statement further emphasized that, by the grace of Almighty Allah, the nation continues to progress under the banner of democracy, upholding the principles of Islam.
