Palais: The New Modernized Station in Charleroi, Belgium – Tec Charleroi’s 4.4 Million Euro Renovation Project+

Le Tec Charleroi inaugurated this Friday followingnoon in Charleroi, in the presence of numerous political figures, the new station “Palais”. Formerly baptized “Beaux-Arts”, the latter was the subject of a major renovation project like that experienced by the entire Carole district of the Upper Town, where it is located.

According to Tec Charleroi, the project required an investment of 4.4 million euros. It included three components: the construction of a new above-ground bus station, the modernization of the metro station as well as work on the electrical installation.

The modernization of the metro station notably involved the renovation of the mezzanine, the integration of two elevators for people with reduced mobility and the creation of a tactile path for people with visual impairments. The electrical work consisted of the renovation of the station transformer station and the installation of a new transformer station, which will be dedicated to recharging electric buses.
