Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova considered that the visit of the Speaker of the House of Representatives to the US Congress, Nancy Pelosi, to Taiwan, showed the United States’ disregard for the rights of other countries.
She added that US diplomats in China “swallowed their tongues” for fear of public anger.
Commenting on the summoning of the US ambassador to China, Nicholas Burns, by the Chinese authorities in light of Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, Zakharova wrote on her page on “Telegram”, today, Wednesday: “He (Ambassador Nicholas Burns, understands that the United States showed by its provocation from New disregard for the rights of other countries.
She added, “Now, the Americans should not talk regarding respecting international law if Washington violates its commitments to Beijing.”
