Peskov commented on the call of the UN Secretary General to allow the export of Ukrainian wheat

Dmitry Peskov told reporters that the proposal of the UN Secretary General, who announced the possibility of lifting sanctions on the export of potash fertilizers from Russia in exchange for permission to export Ukrainian wheat through Russian-controlled ports, was indeed discussed at his meeting with Vladimir Putin.

“We don’t need to remove anything here, the restrictions (on the export of fertilizers. – MK) that the US and other countries have introduced should be lifted. It is these restrictions that do not allow moving forward,” Peskov said, noting that the ban on fertilizers poses a threat to global food security. And this topic also sounded at the talks between Putin and Guterres.

As for the export of wheat, according to Peskov, Ukrainian “ports are heavily mined” and “the water area is extremely dangerous for navigation.” “We need a demining operation,” he added.
