The announcement of the inauguration of Club Med has changed the situation in Petite-Rivière-Saint-François. The $ 120 million resort will open on December 3.
Only a few years ago, several families left the village of the Charlevoix region. The municipality’s convenience store even had to close its doors.
And the arrival of Club Med has just breathed new life into the village, where traffic is already on the rise.
“It will give back and revitalize our village. And we are working on it a lot so that at a given moment, our school is maintained, ”explained to TVA Nouvelles the mayor of Petite-Rivière-Saint-François, Jean-Guy Bouchard.
During his visit to the municipality, our journalist met a travel advisor who was just going to visit Club Med. She came to learn more about the Charlevoix region, so that she could advise her clients.
“Beautiful art galleries, there is the casino which is not far away. So there are really a lot of activities to do for everyone, if only skiing too, ”said travel agent Mylène Tétreault.
This interest also affects the real estate sector of course. The number of building permits issued by the city is on the rise.
“It’s unheard of there. Large lots with views, there are many, many less, ”says real estate agent Louise Bédard.
According to a Royal LePage study, the median price of single-family properties in this region is expected to increase by 4% in 2022.
